Metal Cutting main parameters
ae radial penetration [mm]
ap axial penetration [mm]
n Toodle rotation speed [rpm]
fz feed rate [mm/min]
Slot Milling
Slot diameter is equal to end mill diameter.
In case of deep slotting, reduce feed rate to minimum.
Prefer low axial penetration – ae.
Side Milling
The radial recommended depth ae
should be at most 10% of the end
mill diameter.
Always prefer low cutting depth
and high feed rate.
Face Milling
The radial depth ae should be less then 20% of the end mill diameter.
The axial depth ap should be less then 10% of the end mill diameter.
Decrease ae and ap, increases feed rate.
Pocket Milling
Small axial and radial penetration (ae, ap), high feed rate. Reduce feed rate during corner milling procedure.
Profile Milling
The radial depth ae should be less then 2% of the end mill diameter.
The axial depth ap should be less then 1% of the end mill diameter.
Decrease ae and ap, increases feed rate.
Ramp Milling
Extremely difficult application.
Reduce feed rate to minimum.
Radial penetration is equal to end mill diameter. Change axial penetration according to the application needs.
Drilling
High axial loads during drilling application.
Increase feed rate gradually.
Thread Milling
Thread production according CNC programing.
