Tool Assembly

  • Use SFI Assembly Device.
  • Insert two bearings and turbine into the assembly device according to the following order: Bearing – Turbine – Bearing.
  • Bearings assembly directions have no importance.
  • Turbine assembly direction is extremely important. Wrong direction of the turbine will cause improper output power and torque – Pay attention to the turbine direction.
  • Turbine direction – Cone goes first – see assembly drawings.
  • Insert cutting tool edge first – see assembly drawings.
  • Use a manual lathe to insert the tool through the Assembly Device
  • The distance between tool rear edge and rear bearing edge should be smaller or equal to 4 mm
  • If the distance between tool edge and rear bearing edge will be longer then 4 mm, friction contact between the cutting tool and Toodle rear cover will cause the system to crush.
  • Pay attention to the cutting tool bit (cutting edge) during press fit.
  • Remove the Tool Assembly (cutting tool, bearings and turbine) out from the Assembly Device carefully.
  • During the removing procedure, pay special attention to the cutting tool bit (cutting edge).

Assembly Procedure

Rear Cover assembly

Normally, there is no need to open the rear cover.

  • In case that the rear bearing is stuck inside the Toodle during Tool Assembly removal, it is essential to disassembly the rear cover in order to remove the rear bearing from the Toodle. In order to disassembly the rear cover it is necessary to remove the Toodle from the Tool Holder first.
  • In order to assembly and disassembly the rear cover use special tool (as snap rings pliers)
  • For disassembly turn the rear cover contra clock wise.
  • For assembling, turn the rear cover clock wise.
  • Before rear cover assembly pay attention to the rear cover O-Ring seal. Change the O-Ring if necessary.
  • Before rear cover assembly, pay attention to corrosion marks. Clean corrosion marks if necessary.
  • Before rear cover assembly, clean Toodle housing and cover.
  • During assembling procedure do not use extended force, only manual torque (25 to 40 Nm) provide a torque key
  • After assembly procedure of the rear cover, pay attention to the rear cover position comparing to the housing – see drawing.

Toodle assembly inside the Tool Holder

  • Before Assembling the Toodle inside the tool holder, make sure that the Toodle is fully assembled, including rear cover and front cover (Tool Assembly is not mandatory).
  • The front cover helps to define the Toodle position in relation to the tool holder.
  • Before assembly, clean the tool holder internal diameter.
  • Before assembly, clean Toodle external diameter.
  • Before assembly, pay attention to corrosion marks upon the Tool Holder, and Toodle. Remove any corrosion marks.
  • Before assembly, pay attention to the Toodle Jet’s. Assure they are all clean and open. Clean the Jet’s with a small needle if necessary (1.4 mm – 0.055 in)
  • In case of Toodle Green, pay attention to the external O-Ring seal. Change the O-Ring if necessary.
  • Use moderated torque to close the Toodle inside the Tool Holder. The Torque should be according to the Tool Holder manufacture. In case of Low torque, the Toodle might disconnect from the Tool Holder due to the high pressure. Therefore it is extremely important (safety issues) to apply the minimum require torque.
  • Extensive Torque (Radial force) upon the Toodle might cause radial distortion of the Toodle housing. Therefore, it is important to apply clamping force according Tool Holder recommendations as function of hydraulic pressure.
  • In order to avoid damage to the machine or human injuries, it is mandatory to apply the pressure (emulsion, oil and air) right after the Toodle assembly (inside the Tool Holder) while the Toodle is blocked by the machine horizontal table. In case of wrong torque (too low) the Toodle will get out of the Tool holder and be blocked by the horizontal table.
  • In case of replacement kit change, it is not necessary to remove the Toodle out of the Tool Holder, Just open the front cover and pull out the tool.

Tool replacement

  • In order to replace a new tool, it is necessary to assembly a new replacement kit and change the tool, bearings and turbine with new set.
  • In order to change the replacement kit, open the front cover and remove the used replacement kit.
  • In case that the rear bearing is stacked inside the toodle housing, it is essential to remove the Toodle from the tool holder and open the rear cover.
  • Normally, the rear bearing may be easily removed together with the tool, turbine and front bearing.
  • Push carefully the new replacement kit inside the Toodle, and close the front cover.
  • Before Front cover assembly, pay attention to the O-Ring inside the cover. Make sure that the seal in the designated slot.
  • Do not use extensive force (Torque) to close the front cover. No Hammer or extensive tube is necessary.
  • After front cover closing, rotate the cutting tool with your hand, make sure it turns freely. If not open and check.
